Dr. Korany is a highly respected forensic expert witness who specializes in investigating construction failures and deficiencies. He has conducted over 1,000 complex investigations to date and was qualified numerous times as an expert witness by all levels of court in both Canada and USA. He is a board-certified diplomat in forensic Engineering by the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE). He is a designated Consulting Engineer in Ontario and a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta, British Colombia and in the State of Michigan. He served on several technical committees and professional boards including Alberta’s Board of Academic Examiners. Dr. Korany is an active member of many recognized professional organizations in Canada and USA including the Canadian Standards Association and the Forensic Engineering Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr. Korany authored and co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed technical papers published in leading scientific journal and international conference including the ASCE Forensic Engineering Congress.

Prior to founding KSI Engineering, he established and led the Structural Forensics Group of Origin and Cause Inc, one of Canada’s largest forensic engineering firms. Before relocating to Ontario, Dr. Korany was a Professor at the University of Alberta where he taught several undergraduate and graduate level structural analysis and design courses and provided forensic engineering consultancy services throughout Alberta. Throughout his 35-year career, Dr. Korany has applied his unique combination of academic and field experience to identify the root cause of failures and distress for institutional and industrial facilities, parking garages, stadia, farm structures, and low-rise buildings. Dr. Korany’s lifelong leadership and contributions to the profession have been recognized by several awards and honours. He has recently been made a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE).

Dr. Farag is a Principal Structural Engineer with over 20 years of national and international experience in the analysis and design of structures and general review of construction. He earned a doctoral degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2015 and is a registered Professional Engineer in both Alberta and British Columbia. Dr. Farag’s research focused on understanding the fatigue behaviour of critical steel connections. Throughout his career, he provided engineering services for commercial and industrial buildings, oil and gas facilities including onshore and subsea pipelines, and residential buildings. He investigated and oversaw numerous renovations of existing residential and commercial facilities.

Dr. Farag has a wide ranging Geo-structural engineering expertise in the analysis and design of steel and concrete pile foundations, shallow foundation under static, dynamic, and lateral loads including steel piles of onshore and offshore structures, H-piles for bridge abutments, helical piles, and micro piles for underpinning residential and industrial buildings. As the Director of KSI Engineering Western Canada Operations, he is the primary project manager for all Western Canada insurance claims and the direct supervisor of all our junior staff in Alberta and British Columbia.
